Lenne Klingaman
Lenne Klingaman plays Clara Breton in Welcome to Sanditon.
Born in San Francisco (Go Giants!), Lenne is a true California girl. Her two bohemian (at the time) parents threw her a first birthday party where the only presents to be given were poems. The poems were kept in a Paddington Bear scrapbook she still calls her own. Whisked away to Minneapolis, Minnesota (Go Vikes!) in her teens, she struggled with snow but found solace in a Shakespeare play in her freshman year English class. After graduating from UC Santa Cruz (Go Banana Slugs! – not joking) with degrees in Theater and Art History, she received her MFA in Acting from the University of Washington (Go Huskies!). She drove straight down to LA and has been there ever since. (Go Dodgers! – conflict of interest, I know.)
She’s been on TV as a guest star on CBS’ “Cold Case.” Film credits include “LOVE: As You Like It” (currently in festivals nationwide), “The Exchange,” “A Night in the Sunlight” and the recent web hit “TWENTIES,” created by Lena Waithe and the producers and director of “Dear White People”. She has worked with other web content genii, such as 5 Second Films and Two Trick Pony. She has acted in theaters across the country, performing everything from Shakespeare’s ingénues to Anna Karenina to an aviatrix in Flight in which she builds a plane onstage, climbs ropes, and swings from a trapeze all while telling the story of the first women to fly aeroplanes. Her dreams recently came true when she played Juliet in Romeo & Juliet at the Denver Center Theater Company. She is currently working on a world premiere of James Still’s, Appoggiatura at the Denver Center. Next up: Tartuffe at Berkeley Rep and the Shakespeare Theatre in DC. (She hopes to see you at one of the shows!)
She also develops crushes on major league baseball players quite easily; past lineups include Darren Lewis and Royce Clayton. Currently Buster Posey is her MVP. Also, she can’t live without music. Any and all kinds. And art. And ice cream is pretty great too. Oh and she’s working on an album, but more on that soon….
