Nikea Gamby-Turner

Nikea Gamby-Turner plays Maddy Bates in Emma Approved.

The LA native (not born by raised) always had the dream to be in entertainment since a child, but really started honing her talents in college at Jackson State University. Nikea worked behind the scenes, in various positions at agencies and in T.V. and film development, but the acting bug kept tugging away at her. She finally decided to pursue her dream after being diagnosed with stage 2 Breast Cancer. Which she is now a 10 year survivor. Nikea says, “ I didn’t want to leave this earth not living my dream.” Since then, Nikea has starred in national commercials, performed locally in well received stage plays. One of her proudest moments was being on the very first Stand Up To Cancer broadcast, she got to tell her story as a survivor of Breast Cancer. She also lent her voice talents to the viral video for “For Stuffed Girls” for funny or die. To add to her TV appearances Nikea has guest starred on such shows as, The Mindy Project, How I Met Your Mother, American Idol, Big Time Rush and had roles in films such as The Heart Specialist, Festival award winning Jeffie Was Here, The Underground Comedy Movie, Colombiana and most recently Emmy, and Golden Globe award winning Behind the Candelabra with Matt Damon and Michael Douglas. Nikea is also a member of the award winning, all African American women sketch group Elite Delta Force 3. Who became well known for their sketch Real Housewives of the Civil Rights, it caused quite a stir and landed the ladies in Essence Magazine. She can occasionally be seen hitting the stages around L.A. doing Stand- up comedy. Nikea is managed by Dorry Kane and Berry Preston of The Kane Group.
